Both cities have tried to preserve their unique spirit, so you’ll notice that Garmisch is more elegant and modern, while Partenkirchen has more cobbled streets, wooden buildings and old churches. Weekend adventures: ski touring to one of the highest huts – „Ivan Vazov“
In winter, the mountain is like a scene from a fairy tale. Everything around you is white, the snow crunches under your feet, and the white fields around bring a sense of purity and peace. The winter hike from the new Rilski Ezera hut to the Ivan Vazov hut offers several hours of adventure with unique natural landscapes. This is one of the most remote and high situated huts in Bulgaria. Whether on foot or on ski, this hike will leave you pleasantly exhausted, and the views you’ll get in return are incomparable. Dupkata Waterfall near the village of Zhelodovo, Eastern Rhodopes
Dupkata (it means “The Hole”) waterfall is about 7-8 meters high and is located near the village of Zheladovo, not far from Jebel. Its waters flow through a hole in a rock visor, which makes it extremely picturesque. The river is quite small and it is not active during some periods of the year, so go there in the very early spring or after a heavy rain. See more here.
